Abstracts and Reviews of the ASNT Fall Conference
in Pittsburgh Oct '97

By Rolf Diederichs NDTnet

Why can't we show all abstracts here
In Pittsburgh were pleased to receive verbal permission to show you all abstracts of the ASNT conference proceedings from Don Embinder embinder@asnt.org (ASNT). We have scanned and prepared all 86 abstracts and have them ready to upload. Unfortunately we have not received a final copyright confirmation yet. We take copyright issues very seriously so all we can show at this time are reviews of all the sessions Rolf Diederichs visited, and those papers bearing the notice "This is a work of the federal government and is not subject to copyright."

We'd also like to take this opportunity to express our regrets to all the authors to whom we had promised publication of their abstracts. We are concerned that this problem can adversely affect the NDT community, especially authors from NDT manufacturers and institutes, in terms of loss of international exposure via the Internet. On the other hand you can see by our content on NDTnet that other societies' policies are very friendly. Authors of ASNT conferences should ask ASNT why they do not allow their abstracts here. If you want to see your paper here and you are able to give us permission, please contact Rolf Diederichs at rd@ndt.net.

This theme brought up a discussion in the UTonline Forum: "ASNT Policies taken to Extemes"
