RESUME
La mesure des épaisseurs des couches de chaussées implique la réalisation d'essais
destructifs, onéreux et de représentativité parfois douteuse. Le réseau des Laboratoires des
Ponts et Chaussées (LPC) a développé un matériel fondé sur la technologie radar, le Radar
LPC. Nous présentons ici ce matériel, ses perspectives d'évolution et l'orientation des études
menées au sein du réseau des LPC.
ABSTRACT
Measurement of road surface layer thicknesses using radar methods
The measure of road layers' thicknesses implies destructive tests, expensive to carry out and
thereby limited in number, increasing the uncertainty surrounding this fundamental
parameter. The LPC (public Road Laboratories) network has developed a device based on the
radar technology : the Radar LPC. This paper presents the apparatus and discusses research
made in order to increase the surface resolution as well as the depth of investigation.
