Original Title : DÉTERMINATION NON DESTRUCTIVE DE L'ÉPAISSEUR DE REVÊTEMENTS PROJETÉS PLASMA AU MOYEN D'ONDES DE SURFACE RAYONNANTES
Abstract : With the aim of controlling components in a framework of safety, quality and security, ENEL has studied the development of non destructive techniques where three areas of research have exploited the physical principles of thermal, electromagnetic and ultrasonic wave propagation. Two main objectives are sought: measurement of coating thickness as well as fault detection.
In this publication, we show the steps followed to the development of an ultrasonic immersion technique for the determination of coating thickness. The technique proposed depends on the properties of surface waves propagated and consists of measuring their speed of propagation, and their amplitude which depend on the mechanical and geometric characteristics of the coating composition.
