The computer videodensitometric system (Film Explorer 95, FE 95) was created in MSIA "SPECTRUM" to solve these problems.FE 95 includes the powerful PC with the processor PentiumPro 200 and 64 Mbytes RAM, the high resolution (2400 dpi) device for X-ray photos digitizing, the built-in device for TV signal digitizing (up to 768x576 pixels), storage device of large capacity, fast access and with replaceable carriers for digitized images, jet printer on 600 dpi for the black-and-white image and the software package. The system is intended for high quality digitizing of X-ray photos and X-ray video images with subsequent processing to increase the visibility of defects for the facilitation of defects recognition by the operator, and also for image documenting and creation of the electronic archive. The set of image processing procedures is chosen according to the specifity of required objects on the image and usually includes functions of noise reduction (including the pattern removing filter), gradient processing for allocation of directed extended defects as cracks, functions of border emphasizing and general increase of image sharpness, and also auto correction of the image histogram according to sight of the operator by the image input.
The access to any image in electronic archive does not exceed several seconds, and the library of replaceable carriers does not require rigid storage conditions. The sight of the operator is not exposed to strong brightness difference. All this increases the reliability of defects recognition and the efficiency of operator's labour.
FE 95 could be applied for the express inspection and for defectoscopy in aircraft, on railways, in car transport, fuel and energy complex, in metallurgy, shipbuilding, etc.The system is installed at several Russian enterprises.
