To solve these problems, the television computerized defectoscopic complex Deep explorer 2 (DX 2) was created in MSIA"SPECTRUM".
DX 2 includes: the shielded camera head (1/3" CCD, color or b/w, 90° standard objective) with built-in lights and 15 m cable; PC Pentium 166, 32 MB RAM with built-in high resolution image acquisition board (composite input, 768x576 pixels, 24 bits color, up to 25 lips in PAL), high capacity and fast access data storage with replaceable carrier; jet printer (600 dpi in black and white) and the software package. The measurement error is 0,1 mm. The system is metrologically certified.
DX 2 includes no fiber optics except for light, so the image is smooth and ceaseless. Hardware and software of DX 2 could be easily configured and upgraded according to the user's task. DX 2 can work with any source of video signal suitable for every specific problem. At the same time, the complex is problem-oriented, as the set of image processing procedures is selected to ensure the highest possible efficiency of detection of the given class of defects in each specific case. At cost 3-5 times lower than analogues, DX 2 provides better quality of still and video images and larger set of user functions. Image sharpening, various functions of noise reduction, special functions to improve the visibility of surface defects such as scratches and cracks, are realized in DX 2 software, as well as measuring of defects depth and area.
The test of the complex has shown, that it could be applied not only for endoscopy, but also for visual metallographic inspection and for the inspection of superficial defects with lumenescent magnetic powders and liquid penetrants. With specially developed camera head the complex becomes a very convenient instrument for the inspection of transversal and longitudinal welded junctions in pipes.
DX 2 could be applied in machine building, gas and oil industry, aircraft, transport, etc. Two complexes were installed at the gas and oil pipe plant. Several enterprises in different regions of Russia are going to install DX 2.
