Radiography Applied to Non Destructive Examination of Cultural Objects.

Abstract
Physical basis and areas of use of X-ray, gamma, electron, beta particle radiography as well as their complementary nature with visible light, infrared and ultraviolet photography and also autoradiography are discussed.Some examples show typical applications in various domains such as:- paper, drawings and watermarks,
- paintings on canvas or wood,
- metallic archaeological objects,
- stone statues.
The contribution of these non destructive testing techniques to a better knowledge of cultural objects, and to pertinent conservation restoration is by the way established.
