In the revised version of EN 473, five product sectors are given: castings, forging, welds, tubes & pipes and wrought products. Setting welds as an example, nothing is stipulated referring to material, method, shape and size.
First reference to industrial sectors is given in paragraph 7 which deals with qualification examination. You will search in vain for industrial or product sectors in paragraphs which refer to training or experience. Isn't it a contradiction?
For guidance purposes ICN WH-22 may be used. In these basic requirements for national schemes 9 paragraphs with 44 subclauses are stipulated for UTl-training. In a one week lasting training courses it is impossible to go into the particulars of all these 44 items sufficiently.
Level-III-personnel has to carry out and supervise all level I and level II responsibilities and shall have the ability to guide personnel below level III. It is possible obviously, to get these required abilities without training, EN 473 does not ask for it. But a level-III-candidate, who is certified in level II already, has to repeat parts of the written level II exams. That seems not to be necessary.
