The main document, regulating the certification of NDT personnel in our country, is " The Rules for Certification of NDT Specialists", approved by GOSGORTECHNADZOR of Russia on 18th August 1992.
In the USA, Canada and partly in a number of other countries connected closely with the market of the USA, one uses the SNT-TC-lA Recommended Practice containing the instructions on development of the certification programme and issue of qualification certificates. The new norms of the central certification (ACCP) are developed by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing
The European standard (EN 473) was issued in January 1993 which establishes norms for training and certification of NDT personnel.
Since the middle of the eighties one has carried out a work on preparation of International Standard ISO 9712 which was published in 1992.
The Russian Society for Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics with participation of other organizations has developed a Voluntary NDT Personnel Certification Scheme.
The analysis of the norms on NDT personnel certification in various countries leads to conclusions that the main qualification requirements for professional education, training and experience in the field of NDT, physical fitness, conduct of training courses, passing of examinations in various countries have much in common and they should be harmonised and mutually recognised in future.
