
Flaw gowing was detected in circumferential welds of tubes after long time service due to local gascarburization and high temperature influence.
For repair welding procedure it was necessary to find out areas without importend carburization in microstructure and a sufficient weldability. The weldability of tube material Incoloy 800 H was estimated on base of microstructure investigations on specimens with diffrent carburization grade.
The application of permeability measurements with a probe was reliable for searching on outside surface of tubes. Based upon of the results it was possible to realize successful repair weldings in type of old to new material connections.
