The presentation will focus on the performance and capabilities of the system for measuring residual and applied stress levels. Examples of uniaxial and biaxial stress and measurement with depth will be shown. There will be an emphasis on the scientific background to the techniques by way of comparisons between theoretical modelling and experiment. Recently MAPS has been extensively used in the field and on plant. Illustrations of measurements will include applications on rolled plate, pipelines, rail and turbines and also comparisons with other techniques.
The talk will finish with a summary of the specifications of the MAPS system.
