Full-Text - AbstractSome high-precise developed instruments make it possible to perform sample preserving tests for thin non-homogeneous coatings. But there is no method of such test results interpretation. The method of both mathematical simulation of standard nano-indentation test and test results interpretation formulated in this paper in connection with non-homogeneous with depth coatings gives the possibility to estimate the non-homogeneity character of thin coatings. On the base of this method it is proposed the way of non-destructive determination of mechanical characteristics of thin non-homogeneous coatings by using a spherical indenter penetration.
Limits of the elastic deformation are defined. Both the size of the indenter and elastic loading limits are found for thin coatings. The precision of the obtained solution is studied in this paper. Recommendations for performing experiments are given.
This method permits to interpret nano-indentation test results obtained by existing standard equipment (NANO Indenter) for thin non-homogeneous coatings.
In this paper the estimation of relevant parameters values of mechanical sample preserving indentation tests (SPIT) for thin non-homogeneous with depth coatings is presented.
