Operation characteristics of absorption-type refrigerators are routinely followed by measuring the actual temperature at several points of the units. Mounting of thermopairs, however, take a long time and require well-trained staff. In addition, temperatures measured by thermopairs can register thermodynamic events in their direct vicinity only. Thus, they have to be applied in fairly great numbers.
Thermovision method eliminates these weaknesses because it simultaneously provides quantitative data on temperature distribution on large surfaces without contact. This method significantly reduces the time needed for routine check-ups.
In this contribution, we present a study of combined dynamic neutron radiography and thermovision inspections applied to detect the role of a fault in the manufacture of the evaporator. This malfunction leads to a disadvantagous low temperature surrounding at the gas heat exchanger placed in normal space.
