J.F. Quirk - Phoenix Inspection Systems, UK.
Keywords: Nuclear
Abstract
The manipulator development described formed part of a larger, urgent inspection development programme following the discovery of a small steam leak in a 300mm diameter austenitic reheater outlet pipe at Hunterston B Nuclear Power Station. The first inspection device was commissioned within 7 weeks of the discovery of the leak and further 3 devices were supplied within a further 8 weeks. All the systems were successfully deployed during an intensive inspection programme of the remaining 23 welds at Hunterston B and the 24 welds at a sister station Hinkley B.
