The ultrasonic transducers are inserted in the inspection plates which are specific to the type of weld, the tube thickness and the nature of the defects identified. Two lateral plates ensure the identification of volumetric and planar defects. An additional plate has been specifically adapted for the identification of transverse defects.
Entirely digital, ORBISCAN produces results in real time. The ultrasonic equipment can excite and generate up to 16 measurement channels according to need. All inspections are recorded on a digital optical disk or on CD-ROM.
A colour report is printed at the end of each inspection. A real time diagnosis aid software facilitates the task of the analyst adapting his approach to the different codes used.
A system that can operate on a completely independent basis. It can inspect up to 90 welds a day without being returned to the base point and without the need for reloading. ORBISCAN is integrated in a 10' ISO container (2800X1970X1970). Its shelter can be rapidly installed in a 4X4 vehicle or barge thanks to its standardised wedges. System installation is simple and only requires one specialist; one or two non-speciahsed operators assist in the handling of the tooling and vehicle manoeuvring.
A non-pollutant system, ORBISCAN only uses water for the ultrasonic coupling. There is therefore no risk of toxic waste to the environment.
