Abstract

During 1997 TRC has Performed several qualifications as either system qualifications or as divided in different parts, technique, manipulator and personnel. The qualifications have been performed according to the new legislation enforced by the Swedish Nuclear Power Inspectorate demanding qualifications to be supervised and acknowledged by a third party qualification body.

The 1997 programme included inspection objects like Core shrouds, Pump housings and Nozzles (vessel). The qualifications covered the methods UT detection and sizing with TOFDT, ET detection and length sizing and VT detection and length sizing.

The experience from these qualifications will be presented as well as the implementation of routines into the organization.

An important aspect of the qualification process is the client's responsibility and response to tasks like defining qualification blocks and defects. Another aspect is the time to perform a qualification compared to the inspection time.

A comparison will be made whether a qualification performed as divided in different parts or as a system is the most cost effective.
