Determining Residual Austenite with the Eddy Current Method.
C. Dybiec - Inst. of Precision Mechanics. A. Kozlowska - Daewoo-FSO. Poland.
Keywords: Steel
Residual austenite is an unstable structure, which during exploitation is subject to transformation into bainite, and this is connected with the change of dimension, as during the transformation the volume of crystals is increased the unfavourable influence of residual austenite is especially dangerous in case of pistons. The description of the method and of equipment for evaluating the content of residual austenite in bearing is discussed in the presentation.
