The AUGUR 4.2 computer-based system, the tool for expert in-service inspection, since 1996 is used for examination of primary circuit weldments of Russian NPPs. Some results of inspections in 1996, including comparative analysis of AUGUR and manual inspection data, have been presented earlier [1, 2]. The systematization as well as new results are discussed.
In order to take advantages of AUGUR 4.2 potentialities in full measure advanced methods of defect assessments should be applied using computer modelling and software developments. Strength maintenance involving AUGUR-family data is based on special methodical adaptations to the specific objects (pearlitic piping with austenitic cladding, repaired area, or austenitic pipes), computer modelling of weldment stress state (including residual stress formation and redistribution), computer-based procedure of defect assessments using the precise data on defect geometry. The defect assessment software and necessary data are integrated with the AUGUR system to provide well-timed and well-grounded estimations, minimize subjective factor influence, prevent loss or corruption of input-output data.
