Abstract

In Moscow Instrumentation and Informatics Academy have developed a modem portable device for non-destructive detection of cracks and corrosion in metal items and articles with specific electrical conductivity from 0,5 ... 60 Ms/m (in ferromagnetic ones, too) under the layer of protective surface up to 10 mm and through metal sheeting. This device can be used for detection surface cracks more than 0,5 mm in welded joints without surfacing bead.

The example of usage of the device: aircraft (detection of corrosion and defects under the skin of the glider and protective coating, detection of cracks in the fixing joints and blind rivets area, in vanes and propeller areas of fillets, etc.), power engineering (testing of rotors, turbine, casing equipment and pipe lines if they have cracks), raiway transport (checking the wheels, automatic coupling equipment, units of car bogies, exiles of wheeled pair), sea and river transport (detection corrosion and cracks under the layer of protective coating, rust and dust up to the thickness of 10 mm. The main characteristic properties: high sensitive to cracks and corrosion under the surface (the depth of bedding in non-magnetic materials ap to 8 mm); detection of defects under the layer of any dielectric coating (dirt, scale and rust among them), thickness of the layer up to 10 mm and through metal sheeting-, no false operations on rough surface of complex shape, high wear resistance of eddy current probe and protection from mechanical and other actions.
