Abstract

In our research centre in Chalon (France),we have choosen the Kodak Tabular Grain emulsion technology for our new film range following a lenghthy investigation which demonstrated that it was capable of achieving our objective to provide an improved range of films which will meet the industry needs into the next century. Kodak Tabular grain had previously been used for several years in Medical and Professional Photographic fields and has been adapted to direct x-ray exposure products.Thanks to this technology,films, with a high quality,very robust and environmentally friendly have been designed.

The main features of the new film range,AA400,MX125 and later this year T200, which all use Kodak Tabular Grain emulsion are: improved batch to batch consistency,high resistance to static,high working temperature,low tackiness,improved safelight sensitivity.

The new films also have potential processing benefits.These films have been designed to be processed in alternative chemistry which is not based on the traditional developing agents,so allowing for a simple transition when environmental regulations prohibit the use of the current developing agents.
