The combination of different methods of evaluation no longer poses a problem using the capabilities of modem ultrasonic instruments: the graphics user-interface and interactive mode with the operator makes adjustment and testing procedures lucid and reliable without having the burden of "dull theory".
The objective of our contribution is to illustrate the similarity of both methods and the combined application from the practical point of view. We also believe that the exclusive application of a certain evaluation method, as documented in many test specifications, cannot be maintained in the long-term but that the selection of the evaluation method should be made in relation to the application. On the other hand, the user is also able to adapt better to the specifications of third parties using a combination of both methods.
