Abstract

Widely used NDT equipment has to ensure traceability and reliability of measurement with specified accuracy in testing quality of products.It is possible to realise in standardizing general provisions of non-destructive testing and requirements to NDT methods and devices. These requirements are stated both in the law of the Republic of Belarus "Assurance of Measurement Traceabifly" and in national standards in metrology.

National standards in metrology create complex of interrelated requirements and norms directed to the assurance of traceability, reliability and accuracy of measurements - the system of standards for measurement traceability assurance.
This system of standards stipulates availability of metrological maintenance of measurement equipment and NDT devices both in their production and in operation.The system includes standards which stipulate:

• organisation and order of implementation of state testing of NDT devices, production and output of NDT devices with technical characteristics and quality complying with the requirements of normative documents;Accepted NDT devices are entered in state register of measurement equipment.
  
  • organisation and realisation of metrological attestation of unique items of NDT equipment both being produced and imported;
    
  • organisation and realisation of calibration of NDT devices.

  Similar system of metrological maintenance of NDT equipment exists in all countries of the former USSR.
  This system of metrological maintenance is functioning in Belarus from 1972. During this period more than 350 types of NDT devices both of national and foreign origin were tested and allowed for production. Periodical testing and/or calibration is obligatory for NDT devices used for quality testing of safety critical products.
  Every year the Engineering Centre "CERTICO" - Leading organisation on metrology and standardisation in the field of non-destructive testing of State committee for standardisation, metrology and certification of the Republic of Belarus - realises testing and calibration of more than 2000 NDT devices being in operation both-in Belarus and in other countries.
