The paper describes the methodology chosen to develop the qualification program, the different steps followed and the experience gained from using both ASME requirements and ENIQ guidelines for qualification.

The first industrial applications of qualified NDT systems took place during the second semester 1999 on reactor pressure vessels of different designs. The results, the lessons learned and the actions taken to solve the problems encountered are described and discussed.

Conclusions from this first practical experience are finally given.
