Inspection Qualification: An Inspection Vendor's Viewpoint
J. L. Thomson, B. J. Dikstra, Mitsui Babcock Energy Limited
ABSTRACT
The paper will describe, from a Vendor+s perspective, experience gained in qualification of procedures, equipment and personnel for nuclear plant in-service inspection. Some of the technical and contractual difficulties associated with meeting formal Inspection Qualification requirements, in the absence of fully established Standards, will be reviewed. The present state of development of Inspection Qualification will be commented on and the relative advantages of different approaches discussed. Examples will be provided to illustrate some of the practical issues that can influence the success (or failure) of Inspection Qualification.
