ABSTRACT
The paper will describe the inspection system developed for pre-service and in-service inspection of the seam welds of the reactor vessel for the PHWR under construction at Atucha 2. The inspection is carried out from outside the vessel using a track based manipulator which is designed for installation with minimal radiation exposure. The MIPS/Micropulse system is used for data acquisition. The inspection is designed to meet the defect detection and sizing requirements of ASME XI Appendix VIII: Performance Demonstration. Qualification has however been carried out following a methodology similar to that of ENIQ.
