| EPRI 2000 Session: Pressure Vessel & Primary Circuit Inspection | ![]() |
The inspections identified four welds that had seven small indications of flaws. A flaw handbook for all the welds had been developed prior to the outage. Consequences of potential jet pump leakage had been also pre-determined. The seven indications found were located in three DF-2 welds and one DF-3 weld. The total length of indications in any one weld measured to be less than 2.31 inches in a diffuser circumference of 46 inches.
In accordance with BWRVIP guidance documents, the flaws were evaluated and will require reinspection in two cycles, during our 2002 refuel outage.
Framatome was extremely successful in this third deployment of their ID inspection tool. They are completing their lessons-learned evaluation and are proceeding to their next generation tool. As a confirmatory technique to ultrasonic testing, the new tool will incorporate eddy current for ID surface connected flaw detection and sizing.
