Participants could use either their own equipment or equipment offered by MPA, in any case standard ultrasonic instruments and cables, standard 45° / 4 MHz shear wave transducers and standard IIW calibration blocks. 15 different simple measurement tasks had to be executed on those IIW blocks; not more than about 30 minutes were needed for this test which could be performed almost everywhere.

The aquisitioned data have been evaluated by statistical methods. As a result, very valuable hints are given on the suitability of different ultrasonic reflector types intended to bee used as calibration reflectors, on the per-sonal skillness of the participants and on the reliability respective scatter of ultrasonic data.
