The qualification of the inspection system (procedure of inspection, equipment, data treatment, personnel if necessary) is a solution to the problem. This concept of qualification must however result from a well-established strategy. The historical evolution of inspection attitudes or concepts is showing that from assembling and applying techniques and corrected the industrial practices. Then, from inspection effectiveness assessment, the evolution led to inspection qualification in order to "set" the capability. The use of Risk Informed Assessment is now inducing targets or inspection objectives recognised as guides for inspection qualification and thus for inspection performance to be reached!
