Use of the Consecutive Wöhler Curves for Calculating Fatigue Strengths

ABSTRACT In this article the influences of the characteristic values of the original Wöhler curve including the stress-time functions and the (n/N) curves are examined with the help of calculations. As a result it becomes evident that important information on the most damaging of the specified stress-time functions is contained in the interrelationship between the consecutive Wöhler curves and the characteristic values and functions. By comparing different materials the procedure permits a technically substantiated selection of materials. The treatise is concerned with showing the application range and advantages of the concept.
