ABSTRACT Separatly, die casted specimens and single components of different wall thickness were investigated with regard to the microstructure-property-correlation. The determination of the mechanical behaviour of the material was permormed by means of tensile tests and in-situ tensile tests. Different microstructure and cast induced defects influenced the strength and deformation behaviour of material. The tests showed that decrease of the mechanical properties with increasing wall thickness is due to a coarser microstructure and higher porosity. To obtain acceptable mechanical values, it requires a cast technology and process control precisely adapted to the special component.
