Verification of Handbool Values Sets of Four Elastic Coefficients

ABSTRACT The author used known relations for four elastic coefficients (tension modulus, shear modulus, bulk modulus and Poisson's ratio) and also a new discovered relation between latent fusion heat and the Young's modulus of metals belonging to the same subgroup of the Periodic Table for verification of handbook values of elastic moduli of pure metals. The values of Young's moduli of Lithium, Gallium, Silver and Gold presented in Smithells Reference Book [1] and some other handbooks are wrong. The values of bulk moduli of Rb, Cs, In, Ga, and Li, and of some other metals absent in the handbooks should be established for better verification of the corresponding sets of elastic coefficients. The relation between the relative magnitude of Young's moduli of metals belonging to the same subgroup and of corresponding relative magnitude of fusion heats may help to establish the magnitude sequence of the E-moduli of some metals (e.g. Au - Ag).
