ABSTRACT In order to minimize those corrosion damages by means of improved corrosion protection, systematical and detailed investigations are necessary taking into account the recent developments of corrosion protection systems. The paper presented here reports on results of an actual research program with the aim to investigate the complex connections in the failure mechanisms of corrosion protection systems on spring steel with high strength under high loading in order to achieve an improved corrosion protection.
