ABSTRACT Spring elements and spring systems, applied in constructions for engines and vehicles, are reviewed with regard to their progress in the last decade, their state of the art and the tendencies in the near future. The progress in development of the different metal springs as well as the gas-, air- and rubber springs continued to the technical functions with less weight and in consideration of the cost aspects.
