Induction Lockin Thermography (ILT)
Gernot Riegert, Gerd Busse, Stuttgart
ABSTRACT A new Induction Lockin thermography technique ILT employs amplitude modulated inductive heating of samples by eddy currents. The disadvantage of conventional eddy current testing by time consuming scanning of the sample surface by a probe is ommited. In ILT a thermograpy camera monitors the complete temperature pattern at once. Its time dependence responds to the coded heat excitation of defects in any conductive material. First investigations image typical defects inside steel, C/C ceramics and CFRP.
