ABSTRACT The presented method for strain measurements is based on the speckle effect. Speckles pattern are interferences of scattered coherent light. There is no need to add extra marks onto the specimen. The method yields precise and standarized measurements at high sampling rates. The method is especially suited for measurements at different temperatures and for specimens with underlying rapid deformations.
