ABSTRACT
In the present paper the experiences on the in-service inspections activities in Slovenia are presented. Slovenia has only one nuclear power plant Krško, which is a pressurised water reactor, Westinghouse type. It is a two loop plant with (after power up-rate and modernisation in 2000) 2000 MW thermal rate. To fulfil all the legislative requests regarding surveillance of the structures and components important to safety, Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration (SNSA) authorised the Institute of Metals and Technologies (IMT) to make surveillance of the all important in-service inspection (ISI) activities. ISI activities are performed in accordance with ASME XI Code. Close co-operation between SNSA and IMT results in higher level of overall nuclear safety due to the fact, that many activities were performed on high expert level and in some cases the broadening of non-destructive examinations was performed on the suggestion of IMT and on the request of SNSA. In the paper the structure of in-service program and activities in Slovenia will be described. Some examples of the additional requests will be presented and the future plans on that field, in the light of the latest administrative requests and technical methods development. The non-destructive methods using performing ISI activities will be presented, with special regard to the qualification of methods, personnel and equipment used. Examples of IMT technical justification of indications will be listed with description of their acceptability and plant service life too.
