ABSTRACT
In accordance with the present tendencies of the Nuclear Regulating Organisms on the qualification of In-service Inspection techniques by Ultrasounds, The Spanish Nuclear Utilities have started in year 2000 a pilot project to verify the feasibility of the Spanish Methodology of ISI Qualification completed in 1999, which is based on the ENIQ ISI qualification approach. The project, in which all the Spanish Nuclear Power Plants and the Spanish Nuclear Regulators are represented, includes the development of all the steps defined in the Spanish Qualification Methodology processed in a series of seven technical guideliness. The inspection areas included in the pilot project are the nozzle to vessel shell welds and the internal radii of the inlet nozzle of C. N. Vandellós (PWR) and feedwater nozzle (N5) of C. N. Cofrentes (BWR). In this technical paper, the project activities and its achievements are explained from the point of view of the nuclear power plant qualification strategy.
