Abstract:
All industrial countries have tried to realize a breakthrough of engineering ceramics and composites for industrial applications. One of the plain barriers Or success is the reliability of engineering service, which is directly related to the quality level of the ceramic materials. To achieve this objective, ceramics processing and performance during operation should be monitored wig nondestructive techniques. The specificity of the composite is shown from the paint of view of tote components, the architecture, and the kind of defect which can occur during manufacturing or In operation. This specificity is important to understand how to make NDE techniques efficient and reliable and thus to guarantee critical defect detection. The state of the art for NDE techniques is given. For each technique we present the principle, we discuss their capabilities ties in detecting different defects and the different variations possible for each method. In addition we look at the capability of various techniques for automation their availability, and the possibility for in plant inspection; We will also distinguish between commercial, ire development, and in-research state techniques.
