ABSTRACT The absence of a Brazilian standard for the control of the execution of structures of reinforced concrete that use concrete of high performance, and the utilization of the rigorous control, of the equivalent standard to the common concrete, together to raised volume of concrete, that was lift daily in the construction of a building of high standard of the city of São Paulo, where they were being used concrete of 30, 50 and 70 (Mpa), it was done, with the resultant number of concrete cylinder test, motivates blew up of the capacities of two laboratories of control, soon in the start of the execution of the workmanship. Thinking about that, facing the impossibility to contract a third laboratory, were made a correlative study for each structural element between a compression resistance of the concrete cylinder test with the result of the superficial hardness of the respective elements, gotten for the application of the Swiss Hammer, looking for to diminish the amount of concrete cylinder test that had to be taken. The results of the study had shown that the use of the test of superficial hardness by Swiss Hammer to estimate the compression resistance of concrete was possible, therefore, the responsibility for the control had diminished the number of concrete cylinder test, reducing prices and facilitating the process, that started to be executed by only one laboratory.
