Evaluation of Damages through Changes on Dynamic Properties

ABSTRACT The main scope of present work is determinate the damage magnitude and position in structures. To achieve the goal, two indexes are used: the index COMAC(Co-ordinate Modal Assurance Criterion), related on scientific bibliography, and our proposed here. The parametric study is carried out with two simple structures. Damage analysis is performed changing the mechanical characteristics, in order to simulate various damage levels in different places, using the FEM as analysis method. Finally an additional complex structure was analyzed and some conclusions are exposed through the application of this approach in the detection of damage in real buildings.Key words: artificial intelligence, computer processing and simulation
