| Abstract |
| | This conference proceedings contains 14 papers on analytical studies involving direct and inverse wave propagation and experimental investigations of crack detection and residual stress evaluation.A theoretical model is developed which allows for the qualitative interpretation of experimental results involving the acoustic emissions from martensitic transformation in steels.Applications of wave scattering theory to the detection and characterization of defects are considered. Methods are presented for the evaluation of the effective properties of materials with multiple scatterers. Acoustoelasticity, a technique for NDE is applied to a textured polycrystalline aggregate and residual stresses built up in a railroad wheel during drag braking. |
