It will shown in this publication that the acoustic pressure can also be determined in any place of the sound field in absolute terms if not only the receiving voltage but also the transmitting current are measured and the so-called reciprocity parameter of the test assembly is known. It will be illustrated by examples how the rerciprocity parameter of different test assemblies can be calculated and that this allows the measurement results obtained on different test assemblies and by various laboratories to be directly compared. To estimate the uncertainty of measurement of the method presented, the transducer assembly and sound field data determined are compared with the results obtained by the thermoacoustic method
In this procedure, the acoustic power emitted by the transducer assembly is determined from the increase in temperature produced by the ultrasonic signal in a sound-absorbing plastic plate.
