Market situation in Germany after introduction of EN 473 in 1993 was undermining the confidence in level-
3-persons. There where opened easy ways to reach level 3 without sufficient training.
The German Society for NDT (DGZfP) was forced by their members to act. The Society analysed the
situation, talked with costumers and developed a new concept of training and examination.
DGZfP took steps, to offer a modern and intensive basic training which provides the candidates with the
general knowledge to select an NDT-method. It makes the level III persons fit for their daily business.
A modular approach makes the course also interesting and attractive to other groups, which are only
interested to gain a general overview on NDT.
