This programme of Setting an NDT Examination Paper (SNEP) is a computer based management system for the qualification examination of NDT personnel. An attempt is made to establish a questions bank, ie collection of questions, by using computer's power to store as many questions as possible into file memory. Before this, all questions which were selected from various resources available have been classified corresponding to respective subjects of IAEA-TECDOC-628 Training Guidelines in NDT Testing Techniques (1991 Edition).
The SNEP is a developed software programme, it can help us select certain examination questions from the questions bank (Computer memory) under the management of computer programme and according to our needs to accomplish a design of an NDT Examination Paper (EP). A flow chart of SNEP operation shows us how to search the questions automatically at random or manually at examiner's will. All questions being selected in conformity to each subject can also be tentatively stored in an interim pool of questions for EP maker's overall review before making a complete examination paper. K If necessary, the answers related to each question in examination paper can also be extracted and printed on a separated sheet for making the written testing paper.
Exactly adopting this new technique will optimize the way of proceeding in designing a written EP that is traditionally being conducted by an examiner to choose questions from reference question and answer book or to set questions in line with the training syllabus, bot only time-consuming but even effecting paper's quality for various reasons. The further work in this respect can be extended through to all NDT methods in preparation for the examinations of different levels personnel.
