Metrological confirmation of means for non destructive testing (MNDT) embraces complex of interrelated common requirements and norms directed to the assurance of traceability, reliability and accuracy of measurements, MNDT uniformity and assurance of products quality control by these means. The system of MNDT metrological confirmation includes:
- MNDT testing with the aim to confirm the equipment compliance to the requirements specified by normative documents (standards, guides);
- certification of MNDT being used for the potentially dangerous installation, on safety factors as well;
- metrological confirmation of specimens and probes being used in NDT;
- MNDT calibration in service for assess their capability for exploitation and confirmation of their metrological characteristics;
- review and validation of procedures for confirm accuracy and reliability norms for NDT implementation, proper evaluation of the control results;
- training of specialists for MNDT calibration
The system for MNDT confirmation is in practice in Belarus from 1972. Functioning of this system has required development of normative documents in metrology, in the first place definition and standardization of metrological characteristics of equipment used for the control and development of technical means that ensure verification of these characteristics. The main result is that the problems in the field of metrology in NDT were discovered and professionals both of Belarus and Russia are working at them.
