TOSHIBA has newly developed PC controlled portable phased array system to solve those problems. The portable phased array system is very compact (290X120X420) and it is able to drive up to 32ch array probe, to display real-time sector B-scan, to display accumulated B-scan with encoder and to display overlaid B-scan. We have applied it to turbine component inspections for precise flaw investigation and flaw image data recording. The merit of using this system is to obtained detailed sectioning image by various angled scanning data in real-time without any type of probe scanner.

This paper introduces the outline and the features of the developed portable phased array UT system and its applications.
