An ultrasonic testing system was established to evaluate the HAZ creep damage, cavities and microcracks, with high frequency, focused probes. The B-scan images of surface waves achieved pretty good registration with the metallographs. A split spectrum processing (SSP) technique was utilized to reduce noise and increase resolution of B-scan images. Its achievement was also clear. The SSP parameters selection for creep damage evaluation is discussed in detail in this paper.
