This paper addresses quality assurance programme established with the available and existing processing facilities with reference to radiographs of boiler and pressure vessel industry. The paper includes the monitoring programme based on day-to-day determination of parameters like temperature, contrast and fog density. Preexposed control strips are processed and numerical density values are measured using digital densitometer. The process density aim is assigned and the upper and lower control limits are defined in line with tolerances provided in ASTM standards.
The paper also deals corrective measures whenever limits are exceeded and how control has to be exercised and implemented to extract the maximum benefit from the chemical and to reduce the recurring expenditure on chemicals.
