Eddy Current technique can be used for improving the quality of tubes in addition to fulfilling the STANDARD requirement of testing because Eddy Current Technique gives information which can be used effectively for fine-tuning of settings (for tube manufacturing process) to produce better quality tubes.

The paper discusses various parameters of eddy current testing for ERW and seamless tubes with encircling coil and rotating probe coil techniques to monitor the in-process quality.

The paper also discusses the preparation of standard defects and setting procedure. The precautions to be taken while preparing standard defect and consequences of improper setting vis-a-vis results are also mentioned.
