ABSTRACT
The Increasing DIVERSIFICATION and complexity of products are adding a new role to nondestructive evaluation. Conventionally, its emphasis has been on verification, but now products come to be continuously developed throughout its whole life cycle to such a degree as may be called "prosumer" development. Thus, a new tool for guidance and for better decision making is called for. Nondestructive evaluation technology is expected to provide such a tool in the coming century.
