ABSTRACT
A new kind of magnetic sensor used for magnetic testing is developed in this paper. The magnetic sensor uses Co-base amorphous alloy as its core of the coil. Its structure is simple and cost is low, but its sensitivity is more than 100 times of Hall probe. Without any amplify, the output is more than 200 mV when the sensor is changed from horizontal to vertical in the terrestrial magnetic field. Its basic principle, structure and signal processing method are all introduced. The influence of exciting voltage of the sensor and the amorphous alloy core length to the sensitivity and linear measure range are studied and their curves are given. On the aspects of sensitivity, orientation and measure range, the sensor is compared with Hall probe. Finally a conclusion that this kind of magnetic sensor is more sensitive, simple and low cost is reached. This kind of sensor is suitable to be used in material separating or magnetic testing such as magnetic flux leakage testing. The practical testing result of the sensor in magnetic flux leakage testing is also given.
